Ever heard that saying “It’s none of your business what other people think of your business”?
It’s been interesting to read the responses from my question about what stops you from sharing business goals openly with others.
Some of you choose not to as you believe you won’t be understood, others don’t want people’s judgements, negativity or pressure.
And I totally agree.
This is always about your journey, your compelling vision for your business, your life, your choices etc and about staying true to that – not what others think is best for you.
But …….. there comes a point in business when it is important to share.
Important to put the dream “out there” and really important to be accountable.
- If you’re not accountable then it’s easy to let things slip.
- If you’re not accountable what’s going to keep you going?
- If you’re not accountable who’s going to be the impartial and objective voice of reason?
When I work with female business owners – either as part of my 90 Day Success Club or as a private 121 client, its super important to establish accountability.
I was reminded of this earlier this week after I’d let a lot of things slip that usually keep me physically and mentally strong and healthy.
During this crappy lockdown a number of business and personal things have happened that have meant my focus has not really been on me. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a naturally self-centred person – that’s part of the reason why I do what I do – I want to see others excel and be happy above most other things. But when I neglect my mental and physical health it has far reaching effects.
I got called out!
I got a dose of my own medicine from my personal trainer!
And it blooming well worked!
It was secretly what I’d been hoping for. Because when I commit to someone else, when I do it because I’ve stated it out loud and written it in my diary – it will happen.
So I booked back in for 121 training sessions, I booked back in for an “in person” yoga session and I stopped eating shit! I started writing my journal again and I tapped back into my compelling vision for my health and wellness.
What do you need to do to get reacquainted with your Compelling Business Vision? Have you lost your way a little during this mad 5 months since Covid entered our world, or have the summer holidays and natural break left you feeling a bit lack lustre?
We all need to realign at various points in our business – that’s what keeps a business evolving and moving forward.
We all need to be sure that we’re on the right track for us – not our friends or family.
And we all need accountability – whatever form that comes in.
