Following on from Halloween we start the month with remembering All Saints and All Souls (well I do……) and then we move on to the big bang that is Bonfire Night (remember, remember…..) closely followed by Armistice Day (we shall remember them…..) and Remembrance Sunday.

So many words come to mind at this time of year;

  • Gratitude
  • Reflection
  • Sacrifice
  • Honour
  • Thanksgiving
  • Service

And so many of these words stir up emotions in me that I find hard to contain.

We owe so much to so many – so many that we’ll never know and this isn’t just about those who protected others in conflict or war I’m talking about ALL of those men and women who’ve gone before us and left their positive imprint on the world.

And linked intrinsically to that is the question I have for myself……………..

“What positive thing can I leave in this world?”,

“How can I make other people’s lives better than when I found them?”

That word service keeps cropping up. What does it mean to you?

I asked the ladies in the Brilliant Business Women Community and here’s some of their comments:

  • Positive – helpful – soundboard – introducing- loving what I do for the benefit of others.
  • Supportive and giving from the heart
  • Understanding my clients needs and responding to them in line with my Soul purpose. If I’m unable to fulfil from a place of Soul then I need to pass them on to someone who can.

These are such great descriptions and it just got me thinking that aren’t we all coming from a place of service to others?

As business owners we are there to give our clients the “thing” that they want/need to make their lives better….

So how can you best serve your clients?

First of all I wonder whether you’re actually telling them where you’re coming from?

Just like those brilliant descriptions above from the BBWC members, are you stating that in black and white and really plainly to your clients – do they know that you’re there to SERVE them?

Do they understand the passion that underpins your business and reason for being?

A positive place of service means that you put your client front and centre of why you are doing what you’re doing – right?

The beautiful by product of this is that by doing so you build a profitable brilliant business that aligns with your own compelling vision of your future.

As good old Jesse J sang “it’s not about the MONEY, MONEY, MONEY” – it’s so much more than that. And knowing why you do what you do and what coming from a place of service really, honestly means to you, then you’ll have so much more to share with your clients and any prospective customers.

And while I’ll always teach you that you’re running a business not a hobby and therefore it is kind of about the moneythat’s not the sole motivating factor for being in business – otherwise you could probably earn more going and working back in that suited & booted corporate world where they paid you loads of cash but then take some of your soul!
