If you follow me on Insta you’ll probably know I’m an early bird. Up at 5ish, out before 6 and getting my daily dose of fresh air and nature before the working day gets started.
But there’s another thing that I absolutely love about being out and about. It’s the changing landscape that comes with the seasons.
This morning everything seemed so green and lush. An absolute explosion of growth wherever I looked. Trees seem weighted down with leaves full of water, the grass getting really tall, flowers in bloom and the mud across the fields as boggy as you like!
I don’t remember when it changed. I walk through it every day – why didn’t I see the crops sprouting up in the field and the grass getting so tall?
And it got me thinking about business.
If we don’t keep our eyes on the changing business landscapes, then the same can happen to us.
We’re usually so busy “doing the do” that we don’t have time to notice the small changes, the little achievements, the things that are really working or maybe even going slightly wrong.
It can change right before our eyes but we simply don’t see it.
And if we don’t take time out to reflect where we’ve been, record our progress or struggles and reward ourselves for achievements, then how can we possibly plan ahead for the next phase?
It’s so important to help make sure we’re still on track, not veering off on a tangent or chasing after shiny objects because other people look like they’re doing it better or faster or slicker.
If we’re so busy working in our business all the time then we’re not ever going to be working on our business – and that’s the activity that will help us grow and bear fruit.
It’s always like nature.
And because changes can happen a little at a time, just like in nature, we don’t always notice. This also means it can be really hard to undo something that’s not working, but also that we might be missing opportunities to model and replicate the really good things that are!
