We’re half way through the month and I’m wondering what processes or checks you have in place to ensure that you’re on the right track and maintaining momentum towards your goals and targets that you’ve set for yourself for April?
Are you keeping your focus on business or getting side-tracked by the thoughts of having your nails painted, getting things plucked & waxed or having your locks chopped!
(no stereotypes in this content 😊)
All jokes aside, it’s an emotional week for many of us and we shouldn’t dismiss that but rather tune in to what it is and act accordingly. Whether you’ve got a business that’s reopening fully or partially or you’re managing to go and do something that’s you’ve dreamed of for these past months, then this brings up emotions.
Similarly, you may feel like I did at the beginning of the week which was as flat as a pancake and without any kind of excitement at all! It’s been so long since we did “normal” things that it can throw us off track.
So, as it’s half way through the month, can you bring yourself back to focus on your business and where you are headed amidst all the excitement and hubbub of the week.
Setting goals and monthly targets and being continually focused on the end of the month as a line to draw and be able to review is great, but if we don’t make time to review things along the way, we may get to the end of the month and not have taken any proactive action on something when we had the chance to adjust it.
Making some time to review. Having some markers at the end of each week or at key stages throughout the month is essential for staying on track and not being de-railed by all those other things that pop up to distract us.
So, what can you do?
- Review your sales – where are they in terms of your final target for the month? Do you need to take any action and what does that look like?
- Review your tasks and actions that you set at the beginning of the month – are you on track to complete things or are you way off with something?
- Take a look at where you want to be by the end of the month and decide how much time it will take to achieve those things – you’ve got 2 weeks left to focus!
- Is everything on the list actually business critical or can you move things forward into May?
Having a good practice in your business means that even in the weeks and days when you may not be feeling it or you’re distracted by what’s going on elsewhere, that you have a process and some focus that you build into your business habits to ensure that you’re on the right track and setting yourself up for success.
Changing deadlines, reviewing business critical elements, amending forecasts – it’s all up to you – it’s your business and you make the rules!
And these should be down to valid business reasons, not just because you’ve just been looking at cats and dogs on Instagram and fallen down the Social Media rabbit hole! Imagine that at this review you’re meeting with the CEO of your business and checking in.
What kind of questions do you think she might be asking you?
The power of reviewing cannot be underestimated. Make time for it in your business, and not just at the end of the month when it might be just a little too late. Plan, Do, Review – it works!
